Liverpool target Yan Diomande has opened up about rumors linking him with a switch to Anfield. The 19-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Merseyside club in recent weeks.
Various reports suggested that Liverpool are Diomande’s dream club, but the Ivorian has now shed light on them. He has insisted that the Reds are actually his father’s favourite club rather than being his dream destination.
Thanks for the submission!
He has also insisted that his father was a huge fan of the Anfield atmosphere and always raved about Steven Gerrard. Diomande has further insisted that he is fully focused on RB Leipzig right now. The teenager said, as quoted by DaveOCKOP:
“People made it out to be my dream club. But first and foremost, it’s my dad’s favourite club. It was always his great wish to see me there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield.”
The Leipzig star added:
“He always raved about Steven Gerrard. I was too young to see him play. We didn’t even have a TV at home for a long time. I have a lot of respect for Liverpool, but my dream club right now is Leipzig.”
Liverpool have struggled to maintain their performance levels after winning the Premier League title last season. Despite strengthening his squad heavily in the summer, Arne Slot’s side find themselves sixth in the table at the moment.
Diomande has been excellent for RB Leipzig this season scoring nine times and producing six assists in 24 games across competitions. He is valued at €100 million as per reports and is also reportedly being monitored by Manchester City and Manchester United.
Mo Salah makes bold claim about in-form Liverpool star
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has named Dominik Szoboszlai the best footballer in the world right now. The Hungarian midfielder has been in sensational form this season despite the Reds’ lacklustre form.
Speaking to the media following his side’s 3-0 win against Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Salah raved about his teammate. He insisted that Szoboszlai’s form could play a decisive role in the Reds’ quest for trophies this season. He said:
“It’s a very important win for us. It gives us confidence for the upcoming games. I think a cup run depends on his [Szoboszlai’s] performances. We rely on him so much. This season he is one of the best players in the world. It is great to win trophies. Hopefully we can go on.”
Szoboszlai has scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 35 games across competitions this season. He has played all across midfield as well as being deployed at right-back in several games.
Liverpool managed to secure a convincing 3-0 win against Brighton at Anfield on Saturday, February 14. Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah found the back of the net for the Merseyside giants.
