Ole Miss basketball defeats Lady Vols

No. 17 Ole Miss (21-6, 8-4 SEC) defeated No. 21 Tennessee (16-8, 8-4 SEC), 94-81, Tuesday at Sandy and John Black Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi.

The Rebels led, 44-33, at halftime in a game which was the Lady Vols’ second consecutive loss.

Talaysia Cooper totaled 30 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. She converted 12-of-26 field goal attempts, 2-of-7 three-point attempts and 4-of-5 free throw attempts. Cooper was one of three Tennessee players to score 10-plus points in the contest against the Rebels, which was rescheduled from Jan. 26 due to inclement weather.

Lauren Hurst scored a career-high 16 points for the Lady Vols. She also recorded nine rebounds, two rebounds and two assists, while Alyssa Latham finished with 10 points, two rebounds and one assist for Tennessee, which committed 16 turnovers against Ole Miss. The Rebels committed 15 turnovers.

Cotie McMahon had 39 points to lead all scorers. She also posted a double-double, recording 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals for Ole Miss.
