The announcements came back to back. Immediately after confirming the departure of the Italian, who led the team to three Ivorian league titles, Africa Sports named his successor.

Maxime Gouaméné now faces the daunting challenge of guiding the squad through the second half of the season and “doing better than the first.” The club currently sits 10th in Group B of the Ivorian Ligue 2 table.

A former player for Africa Sports, Gouaméné also featured for their historic rivals, ASEC Mimosas, and has deep knowledge of Ivorian football, including the youth ranks of the Elephants national team.
