Paul McCartney and Wings Exhibit Set at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Date:

Opening in May, the collection uses archives and memorabilia to travel back to the Seventies, when Paul McCartney and Wings launched their decade-long, post-Beatles run

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will travel back to the Seventies in an upcoming exhibit capturing the story of Paul McCartney and Wings. The first museum exhibit of its kind, the collection features a decade’s worth of memorabilia and archival materials from McCartney, as well as from band members and others close to the group. It opens on May 15.

Some of the items set to be unveiled at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum have never been displayed in public before. The collection ranges from more standard offerings, such as instruments from recording sessions for the band’s seven studio albums, to more personal selections, including handwritten lyrics, immersive videos, and images that capture the era.

McCartney has been celebrating his days with the Wings quite extensively over the past year. In February 2025, the musician announced Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, a book that traced his post-Beatles journey as he released a pair of solo albums and eventually found something that clicked with Wings.

“I’m so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book,” McCartney said in a statement at the time. “Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments, and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, ‘OK this is really good.’ We proved Wings could be a really good band. To play to huge audiences in the same way The Beatles had and have an impact in a different way. It was a huge buzz.”

McCartney formed the band in 1971 alongside Linda McCartney, former Moody Blues singer Denny Laine, and drummer Denny Seiwell. In addition to the exhibit and the book, their story will also work its way into the upcoming documentary, Paul McCartney: Man on the Run. The film will be released on Feb. 27 via Prime Video. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host an early screening on Feb. 21.
