Jannik Sinner recently revealed the honest truth about why his parents don’t come to more tennis tournaments. The 24-year-old opened up about his ‘relaxed’ relationship with his mother and father, emphasising the trust they have between each other.
As one of the leading tennis stars in the world, Sinner spends a majority of the year on the road. While the Italian is constantly accompanied by his team, his parents, Johann and Siglinde, make only occasional appearances in his player’s box. The World No.2’s older brother, Marc, also attends tournaments infrequently. Recently, the four-time Grand Slam champion opened up about his relationship with his family, telling Tennis TV,
Thanks for the submission!
“Of course I’m in touch. The other way I’m not 13 anymore that I call them everyday. We have a very relaxed relationship, me and my parents and my brother also. We have times where we hear (from) each other every second day but there are also times where for one week we don’t call because that’s also normal. I have my lifestyle, they have theirs.”
Sinner went on to add that while he’d love for his parents to attend more tournaments, he was aware of the ‘situation’ with his grandparents at home, explaining,
“I would love that my parents come a little bit more to tournaments but I also notice the situation with grandma and grandpa. It is how it is. So I accept that and I believe they trust me enough to say ‘he is mature enough that he can handle everything by himself’ and yeah, that’s it.”
While Jannik Sinner’s family does not attend tournaments frequently, they have been there to cheer for the Italian during major tournaments, with his father making an appearance during his 2025 Wimbledon Finals.
Jannik Sinner kicks off Qatar Open campaign with dominant win

On the tennis end of things, Jannik Sinner is currently in action at the 2026 Qatar Open. The World No.2 was last seen on court in Melbourne for the Australian Open, where he was dealt a surprising semifinals exit at the hands of 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic.
Now, as he returns to the court in Doha, Sinner looks to be in good form. He kicked off his campaign at the ATP 500 against Tomas Machac, defeating the Czech player 6-1, 6-4 with ease. Up next, Jannik Sinner will now run into Alexei Popyrin at the Qatar Open.
