Leading by example in every possible way

Date:

Sidney Crosby has heaped praise on Connor McDavid for his stellar performance for Team Canada at the Olympics.

McDavid leads the tournament with nine points, through two goals and seven assists in three games. He’s on pace to challenge the record for most points (11) by an NHL player in a single Winter Olympics tournament, currently shared by Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu.

Following Tuesday’s practice, captain Sidney Crosby showered big praise on McDavid:

“I mean, he’s doing everything,” said captain Sidney Crosby. “Whether it’s with the puck, without the puck, [being] physical, he’s leading by example in every possible way. He’s poised. Guys have taken some runs at him, he just continues to play. He’s shown a lot of focus that way. He’s been leading the way for sure.”

Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby himself is not far behind in chasing McDavid, as Team Canada’s captain has accumulated six points (two goals and four assists) through three games in the tournament.

Tom Wilson makes his feelings known about playing with Connor McDavid

Tom Wilson shared his thoughts about playing with Connor McDavid, calling the experience of skating with him one of the highlights of his career and praising how much he can learn from him.

“It’s pretty incredible,” said linemate Tom Wilson. “I mean, he’s playing on another level right now. He’s the best in the world. When he’s your linemate you might have to think the game a little bit quicker. You might have to get the puck to him a little bit quicker, but once he has it special things happen.”

He added:

“Playing with Connor has been a highlight of my career. I can learn so much from him … A day like today, Connor and Sid are the hardest-working guys, executing at the highest level on the ice in practice.”
