Process of retirement shall start post August 2026

Date:

Renowned astrologer Sumit Bajaj has made a huge prediction about Team India cricketer Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2027 World Cup. Bajaj said the explosive opener is unlikely to play the 50-over tournament and that his retirement process will begin after August 2026.

Rohit, who has been active only in ODIs after retiring from Tests and T20Is, recently expressed his desire to win the 2027 World Cup for Team India. The 38-year-old led the Asian giants in the 2023 World Cup and missed out on silverware after losing to Australia in the final.

Here’s what Sumit wrote on X:

“Rohit Sharma is not likely to play the Cricket World Cup 2027 for India. He shall retire before that. Process of retirement shall start post August 2026.”

The Nagpur-born cricketer sizzled with the bat in the 2023 World Cup, accumulating 597 runs in 11 innings at 54.27 at a strike rate of 125.24, including three fifties and a ton. Although they couldn’t lift the 50-over World Cup, the Men in Blue won back-to-back ICC titles under Rohit at the 2024 T20 World Cuo and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Having been replaced as the ODI skipper ahead of the Australia tour last October, Rohit went on to earn the Player of the Series award. The star batter clattered 202 runs in three innings, including a ton in the third ODI in Sydney.

However, the veteran has managed only two half-centuries in his last six 50-over innings against South Africa and New Zealand. He scored 26, 24, and 11 in the ODI leg against the Kiwis, who registered a historic series win in January.

While Rohit’s next appearance will be in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians, he will play for India in June 2026 when England host them for three ODIs. Rohit’s form will be in focus as the Men in Blue inch closer to the 2027 World Cup.
