‘King of the North’ Nico Carrillo isn’t interested in seeking revenge against the only man to beat him on the global stage of ONE Championship.
The 27-year-old Scottish powerhouse captured the ONE interim featherweight Muay Thai world title by defeating Shadow Singha Mawynn via unanimous decision inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Feb. 13.
After taking the Thai’s best shots in the first half of their battle, Nico Carrillo settled into his rhythm by the midway point of the third stanza. From there, he dominated the Thai in every exchange in the championship rounds on his way to a triumphant outing at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video.
During the post-fight press conference, the Glasgow resident addressed whether a rematch against Nabil Anane could happen at featherweight.

“Yeah, I was with him yesterday. I think he’s going to move up to featherweight in the next two years. So that probably won’t happen anytime soon,” the Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy fighting pride shared.
Nabil Anane, the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, defeated Carrillo in the first round of their interim world title matchup at ONE 170 inside Bangkok’s Impact Arena in January 2025.
While ‘King of the North’s’ desire to exact revenge is there, his focus remains forward rather than backward—chasing undisputed featherweight Muay Thai supremacy against divisional king Tawanchai PK Saenchai.

Nico Carrillo shares his blueprint to victory against Shadow
In the same ONE Fight Night 40 post-event presser, Nico Carrillo revealed his winning strategy versus the tough-as-nails Thai slugger in Bangkok, Thailand.
“The game plan was to hurt and move, not allow Shadow to attack my leg. We knew that was his main focus throughout the fight,” the Scotsman added.
With the victory last week, ‘King of the North’ took his career to 30-4. At present, Carrillo enjoys a three-fight winning streak against Shadow, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, and Luke Lessei.
