Tennessee Titans new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has a clear picture of how he plans to coach quarterback Cam Ward in 2026.
The Titans held Daboll’s introductory press conference on Wednesday. Daboll was hired by the Titans on Jan. 27. The 50-year-old is a four-time Super Bowl champion, having served on the New England Patriots’ championship teams as defensive assistant (2001), wide receivers coach (2003-04), and tight ends coach (2014, ‘16). The former 2022 AP NFL Coach of the Year, along with Tennessee’s new defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, outlined their vision for the Titans next season.

As Daboll said before the media on Wednesday, he’s looking forward to nurturing the gifted playmaker in Ward:
“Yeah, well we’ve got a lot of work to do with everybody,” Daboll said. “But again, he’s a young, athletic quarterback who has accuracy, who can make plays on the move. He can do a great job of, if the play doesn’t look great, and then all of a sudden it looks great because of his ability. He’s smart. I look forward to communicating with him and building this thing together.”
Ward threw for 3,169 yards as a rookie in 2025. He showed savvy in run-pass option plays, as well as when scrambling out of the pocket on occasion. However, Ward also exhibited rookie weaknesses when facing pressure. The Miami product was sacked an NFL-leading 55 times last season.
Daboll, who heavily scouted Ward ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft as the former head coach of the New York Giants, stated that he’s watched all of Ward’s tape from college, as well as his lone season in the NFL, as he, as well as his coaching staff, formulates schematics for the 23-year-old for next season.
